Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative; and in close collaboration of Assistant FAO Representative-Programme (AFAOR) and direct supervision of Program Officer Resilience the Field Officer will perform following tasks:


  • Coordinate and backstop partners in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of Multi Year Humanitarian Program;
  • Assist in Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) interventions including field assessment, consultation meetings, identification of project UCs/Villages and beneficiaries and distributions;
  • Timely collection and consolidation of monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports from implementing partners and further submission to FAO’s resilience office;
  • Collect and store intervention wise beneficiary data for periodic reports;  
  • Remain well informed and updated on disasters and hazards in assigned and other adjacent districts;
  • Develop strong relationship and liaison with green sector line agencies and District Government;
  • Contribute to the development of  concept notes, project documents, project briefs and reports;
  • Collaborate with FAO technical experts (agriculture, livestock, irrigation, trainings and NRM) and provide backstopping in FSL Programme design, activity planning and implementation at district/field level;
  • Coordinate with Reporting officer, M&E section and communication specialist in finalization of periodic progress reports, success stories/case studies;
  • Inputs for the work plans, budgets and forecasts related to programme activities at district level;
  • Design and implement capacity development initiatives;
  • Facilitate monitoring visits of the donor to the field and evaluate on-going interventions and activities in close collaboration with the M&E Unit;
  • Perform any other relevant duty as requested by the supervisor.

Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements:


  • Three to five years of project implementation and managing partner NGOs, coordination and implementing of humanitarian relief and or development project preferably in Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Community Development and Community Based Disaster Risk Management;
  • Proficiency in English language;
  • Advance user of computers, office equipment and database software;
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in database management.
