Job Description

I. Organizational Context

Erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) has been socio-politically isolated and deprived area since the independence of Pakistan. Starting in 2008, increased militancy in the region saw over 300,000 families displaced from their homes and communities. The exorbitant efforts by the government of Pakistan and through support from national and international donors, the return process has almost completed. Following the return process, the government has made a paradigm shift in the governance structure in the erstwhile FATA which resulted in the merger of the agencies with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Despite these changes, the newly merged districts are facing humanitarian and development related crisis which can trigger any instability in the region. The weak economy and high levels of unemployment remain one of the main factors of instability in the newly merged districts. Revitalizing livelihoods, providing for local economic recovery, creating jobs and inclusive growth for the long-term, are UNDP’s key priorities in the area.
