Job Description

Job Purpose and Organizational Context

 

Under the overall guidance of Head of Office and direct supervision of the Head of Communication and Information Management Unit, the National IM Officer will supervise the data and web manager. 

 

Summary of Key Functions:

 

  • Manage the complete production of standard and bespoke GIS products including 4W
  • Ensure the management of all relevant geo-databases and that all spatial data
  • Perform a daily reconciliation exercise of all data, information, records, and transactions
  • Develop information products, map, and analysis from survey data

 

Manage the complete production of standard and bespoke GIS products including 4W, thematic mapping activities, and client requests. 

Ensure the management of all relevant geo-databases and that all spatial data is compliant with HDX/OCHA standards

Maintain a catalog of all geo products and datasets. 

Provide advisory services to partners who require GIS or data solutions. 

Perform a daily reconciliation exercise of all data, information, records, and transactions performed within the same day and ensure that data validation, integrity and accuracy is maintained

Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports from relevant systems and/or databases

Develop information products, map, and analysis from survey data with the intention of dissemination decision making tools for the HCT.  

Update OCHA standard templates and information products into humanitarian response or any other we platform

Use infographics to prepare presentations and various information packages for events and regular meetings

Support the provision of IM products and services including printing various documents i.e. maps, reports for humanitarian communities and field offices

Maintain professional networks for information and data exchange with partners organizations and the IMWG.  

Provide support to partners on data and geographic standards as per UN protocol

Provide support on ad hoc requests from OCHA team members and humanitarian community, as needed

Recruitment Qualifications

 

Matriculation. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, GIS, Information Systems, Social Sciences or a related field will be referred.

 

Experience:

At least 6 years prior relevant experience in GIS/data management in a humanitarian or development context, or in a related field.  Experience in supporting the design and successful implementation of new GIS processes and systems is an asset. Experience in the application of information management in humanitarian response or development programs is also desirable. 

 

Language

 

fluency in English and Urdu is required
