Background The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Country Office for Pakistan (COPAK) is tasked with assisting Pakistan through its Country Programme (CP) 2010-14 with a focus on needs related to illicit trafficking and border management, criminal justice and drug demand reduction and HIV/AIDS. COPAK has developed a programme of actions that include outcomes in Border Management, Criminal Justice and Drug Demand Reduction. Across all outcomes, a series of activities including training, providing equipment, study tours, compiling data on trends and monitoring and evaluation must be managed. COPAK requires the services of an Event Management Associate to support the implementation of events scheduled under the Country Programme.Assignment Objectives To manage the implementation of events of the COPAK Country Programme. As part of the assignment the Associate is expected to deliver high quality products and ensure that budgets and plans are maintained. Responsibilities The Event Management Associate will undertake the following duties and responsibilities: Arrange venue, including reservations for meeting rooms and catering, liaison with venue management; Facilitate participation of stakeholders in events, including arranging travel, accommodation, security clearance; Manage financial tasks related to travel and accommodation expenses of the participants; Prepare materials for event, including proofreading and translating documents, printing and distributing agendas, training materials, folders, banners, name tags and plates; Prepare, distribute and collect registration, assessment and feedback forms; Develop and maintain a checklist of tasks and requirements for the proper management of events; Maintain an updated schedule of events; Any other tasks as determined by the supervisor.Planning and Implementation Arrangements The Associate will be based in the Country Office for Pakistan and report to the Programme Management Officer. Payment Schedule and Rate The Associate will be issued an SC contract in accordance with United Nations rules and procedures. Payment scale will be determined by UNDP recommended rates for service contract holders.
Required Skills
A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Legal or Political Science, Economics or Public Administration, Event Management, plus at least 6 years of relevant experience in Pakistan.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Previous experience in event management and consulting.
Strong technical skills in database management and desktop publishing.
Ability to interact effectively with high level government counterparts, national and International professionals.
Previous experience with the UN or a UN agency is an asset.
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
