PURPOSE: : The Nutrition Officer will provide technical and management expertise in assessing, designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring Nutrition interventions, especially preventive interventions in integration with Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health interventions. The Nutrition Officer will work closely with Sindh Government departments, NGOs, and agencies. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS a. Contribute towards design & planning of Nutrition interventions (especially prevention) in integration with Provincial Programs including Nutrition, Maternal Newborn and Child Health, and National Program for Family Planning & Primary Health Care. b. Participates in the development of work plans and ensures compliance with specific assigned objectives. Provides guidance and support to staff to manage and implement project activities. c. Manage the implementation, supervision, and monitoring & evaluation of Nutrition activities (especially prevention) at health facility level and community level. Identify and advise on alternative courses of action to accelerate/improve programme delivery and ensure capacity building and programme sustainability d. Undertake field visits to supervise, monitor and evaluate implementation; identifies problems and proposes remedial action. e. Responsible for the preparation of work-plans, cooperation agreements, and budgets. Assist the nutrition program for effective and efficient utilization of UNICEF resources allocated to the programme f. As part of the Country Programme and annual work-plans processes, prepares sectoral documents including regular updates, progress reviews, donor reports, and briefing notes. g. Works with provincial and district counterparts, as well as national and international agencies as relevant to project/program management; follows up on implementation of recommendations, agreements, and action points. h. Coordinates with the Operation/Supply staff on supply and non-supply assistance activities ensuring proper and timely UNICEF and Government accountability. Certifies disbursements of funds, monitors and submits financial status reports to Senior Programme Officer or Representative as required. i. Participates in inter-sectoral collaboration. Assists in development of appropriate communication and information strategy to support/advocate programme development. |
